Are you taking Bach Flower Remedies the most effective way?

A few days ago I had a question from one of the members of my Facebook Bach Group about how to take the Bach Flower Remedies, and as it is such a good question I thought I’d share the answer with you.
But before I run through the most effective way of taking the remedies, I’d like to tell you about two Free Bach Flower Guides. Click the image to order your guides.
Now, back to taking the remedies. Part of the confusion surround how to effectively take these powerful remedies is because there are 4 different ways to take them and they all work! The remedies are going to work, no matter how you take them (so long as you chosen a matching remedy).
-
Drops on your tongue!
You can up 2 drops on your tongue straight from a Stock Bottle (the small 10ml bottles are Stock Bottles) or you can put 4 drops on your tongue straight from a treatment bottle. (More on the treatment bottle later).
-
Put the remedies in water
Edward Bach liked to put his remedies in water. Water will carry the memory of whatever has been in it. So when we put the remedies into a glass of water, it turns the whole glass into your remedy.
Sipping the water frequently is the most effective way of using the remedies to bring about a healing.
The remedies are preserved in brandy and so to give a child or an animal remedies straight from the bottle, the strong taste of brandy will be a shock. It’s kinder to put the remedies into water, juice or tea to disguise the taste of brandy.
-
The Treatment Bottle
If you’re dealing with a long term problem, perhaps unravelling something situations from childhood, then using a treatment bottle is the most effective way of taking the remedies.
A Treatment Bottle is usually a 30ml brown bottle, with a dropper, which is sometimes available from high street chemists. Treatment bottles will be available from your Bach Flower Essence/Remedy manufacture.
4. From the Treatment Bottle to a glass of water
The 4th way to take the remedies, is to make yourself a Treatment Bottle, and then put 4 drops from the Treatment Bottle into a small glass of water, and sip it frequently throughout the day.
The key is that the intensity of your emotions indicates the frequency of dose. For example, if you’re extremely anxious, then you’ll need your remedies about every 15 minutes fo a couple of hourse.
So – Intensity of emotions indicates frequency.
Frequency is more important than ‘number of drops’.
Personal mix
Edward Bach understood that we are all individuals and we each see our world through our own unique lens. Therefore, the beauty of his simple method of healing is that you can select the remedies that you feel suit you best: that are the closest match to your feelings, and mix together your own personal mixture – that suits only you.
Making and using a treatment bottle.
* Fill a 30ml (or perhaps you have a 20ml, if you’ve bough your remedies in pharmacy on the high street or in a supermarket) fill the bottle to the shoulder with mineral or filtered water.
*Add 2 drops of every chosen remedy, including Rescue Remedy (Bach advocating using no more than 6) into your Treatment bottle, so I always stick to that.
Remember to put a label on the bottle, with the date and the remedies you’ve chosen. You’ll be referring to this when you come to make up the next bottle.
Now you take 4 drops from your treatment bottle – at least 4 times a day.
a) You can take it straight onto your tongue.
b) Or you can do as I do (I found this is the most effective way of taking the remedies) and put your 4 drops into a small glass of water, and sip it frequently throughout the day.
A Treatment bottle will normally last you about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. There is no need to add additonal brandy or apple cider vinegar to a Treatment Bottle. The water will be OK for that short a time. However, if the bottle is going to have to last much longer, then I would suggest you perserve the water by adding half a teaspoon of brandy, or cider vinegar.
Making up a treatment bottle and putting 4 drops in a glass of water that you’ll sip throughout the day (and can last you all day) is, in my opinion, the most effective way of getting steady results, and also the most economical way of using the remedies.

Rose, Should we put Brandy in the treatment bottle or store it in the refrigerator?
Hello Tammy.
Thank you for your question – its a good one.
It really depends on the weather!
On average, a Treatment Bottle should last about 3 1/2 weeks. Under ‘normal’ weather conditions the water wont go off in that time.
But if the weather is extremely hot, then its best to add about a 1/4 or 1/2 a teaspoon of brandy to preserve the water.
Or if you didn’t want to use brandy, you can keep it in the fridge.
Also if you’re making up 2 bottles at once – one to be used now and one for a few weeks time – it would be a good idea to either add brandy to the second bottle anyway. And also store it in the fridge.
I hope this is helpful.
Take care
Rose
Thank you Rose. Very helpful

Hello! Rose i put two drops each of four remedies in a glass of water and drank it, is it alright ?
Hi Sandhya. Yes. You put 2 drops of each of the chosen remedies into a glass of water, and sip that water throughout the day. That is your ‘Remedy water’ not your ‘thirst’ glass.
Siping it frequently throughout the day will have the most beneficial effect.
I hope this helps. Rose.
Hello Rose, we can combine up to 7 remedies, right? Can rescue remedy be itself in this combination? Are we going to count it as 1 remedy?
Hello Arzu. Thank you for your questions.
Bach actually suggested we could mix up to 6 remedies together, but I know a lot of people (including the some people who sell the Bach Flower Remedies) say you can mix up to 7. So its a choice you can make yourself.
When you add Rescue Remedy to your Mix (although it has 5 remedies) you actually count it as one remedy. You can mix Rescue Remedy and 5 or 6 other remedies.
Here;s a link to a blog that might be helpful to you.
I hope this helps. Rose

Hello Arzu. Thank you for your comment. Bach suggested we mis up to 6 remedies together. But I know one manufacturer of the Remedies suggests you can mix up to 7. So try it and see,
And yes – when you add Resceu Remedy to your treatment bottle, you count it as 1.
Enjoy the remedies. Rose
Thank you very much , i wish you a lovely day
It’s a pleasure. Thank you Arzu. And you have a good day too. Rose
hi Rose,
Can we put 4 drops from treatment bottle to small glass of water and sip it frequently throughout the day?
Hello Dolly. Thank you for leaving a comment. You’re quite right you can put 4 drops from your Treatment Bottle into a small glass of water, and sip it frequently throughout the day.
I wrote the blog some time ago, and it seems that I left that option out of the blog. Thank you for getting in touch, I’ll alter the blog today. Rose.
Thank you Rose for your response. I have one more doubt. From treatment bottle we are supposed to take 4drops 4times a day. So if you are sipping one dose (4drops)through out the day, how does that work?
Hi Dolly. Thank you. The frequency of dose depends on the intensity of your emotiuons. If you’re having a panic attack, or are in the depths of despair, you’ll need the remedies more frequenty than just 4 times a day.
Howeve, if you’re dealing with something you’ve been living with for years, perhaps lack of confidence, then taking the remedeies 4 times a day will work well.
So the frequency of dose depends on the intensity of your emotions.
The easiest way to take the remedies frequently is to put 4 drops from your Treatment Bottle into a glass of water and sip it frequently.
If your emotions are not extreme then take 4 drops from the Treatment Bottle 4 times a day.
I know it seems contusing. But I hope this helps. If not get back to me. Rose.
Thank you for your reply.
It’s a pleasure Dolly. Hope it helped. Rose
When taking 2 drops straight from the bottle, how many times do you take a day?
Hello Barbara. Thank you for getting in touch.
Whether you take 2 drops straight from the bottle, or 4 drops from a treatment bottle, you need to take at least 4 doses a day.
However, the rule of thumb is that the more intense your feeling, the more frequently you need to take the remedies. For example, if you’re suffing from intense anxiety, or shock or grief, you may need the remedies very frequently, perhaps every 10 minutes or so for about an hour, until your feelings settle down.
When you’re taking the remedies frequently like this, it is more convenient (and economical) to put the 2 drops into water and sip the water every 10 minutes or so.
As the remedies are ‘energy’, when you put 2 drops into a small glass of water, the whole glass becomes ‘remedy’.
I hope this is helpful. If you have other questions, please get back to me. Rose.
